Tour Description
Moscow – Kolomna – Moscow
Venture outside Moscow to one of Russia’s oldest cities, Kolomna. Founded in the 12th century, Kolomna is naturally famous for its Kremlin. It is one of the country’s most impressive ancient fortresses and has been involved in many significant events in Russian history. The city also boasts a lively and elegant posad (old merchants’ quarter) with old churches, mansions of rich merchants, and traditional wooden houses. If you’re lucky enough to be in Kolomna in the spring, you may see the city’s legendary apple trees in bloom. But all year round you can learn about Kolomna’s rich history and traditions related to apples – in particular, how the famous pastila (apple-based confectionery) is made.
