Tashkent has a varied selection of cafés and restaurants. These range from simple family-run establishments to contemporary restaurants with creative menus, stylish interiors, live music, and evening entertainment. Alongside traditional Uzbek cuisine, the city offers European, Middle Eastern, Caucasian and Asian dishes.
The Old City remains one of the best places to sample traditional Uzbek dishes. Around Kukeldash Madrasah and Chorsu Bazaar, numerous cafés and teahouses serve plov, shashlik, samsa and other popular local dishes. Visitors can also enjoy a traditional meal in a local family home, with some hosts offering Uzbek cooking classes.
Another highlight is the Besh Qozon Plov Centre in the Yunusabad district, where several varieties of plov are made at the same time, including the famous Tashkent wedding plov. If you a coffee lover, check out Coffee Shops in Tashkent.
