An unusual and captivating journey through Kazakhstan, this tour is split into two distinct parts: the ultra-modern capital of Astana with its striking futuristic architecture, and the tranquil landscapes of Burabay National Park - a serene world of lakes, rock formations, and pine forests. Though brief, this 4-day Astana and Burabay tour offers a rich program that promises lasting impressions and a welcome burst of energy.
The adventure begins with an exploration of Kazakhstan’s history and culture, followed by a comprehensive tour of Astana’s most iconic landmarks. In the second half of the itinerary, the pace slows as you unwind in one of the country’s most scenic regions. Burabay invites you to hike through forest trails, take a speedboat ride across the lake, visit a local deer farm, try horseback riding, and enjoy a variety of outdoor activities.
Take this chance to discover the vibrant contrasts of Kazakhstan and start planning your next escape. The 4-day Astana and Burabay tour is an excellent choice for travelers seeking a distinctive and memorable experience.

Tour itinerary:

Day 1: Arrival in Astana

Arrival at Astana International Airport. You will be met by our guide and driver and begin your tour of Kazakhstan’s capital without delay. The first stop is the National Museum, the largest in the country, featuring 10 halls that cover history from ancient times to the present day.
Next, visit the main attractions on today’s program: the Hazret Sultan Mosque, the second largest in Central Asia; the Palace of Peace and Reconciliation, built in the shape of a pyramid; and the Baiterek Monument, Kazakhstan’s main symbol, standing 97 meters tall.
After the tour, head to the striking Khan Shatyr shopping and entertainment center, which blends futuristic architecture with traditional Oriental elements.
Check in at the hotel. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 2: Astana – Burabay National Park

In the morning, after breakfast, you will depart from Astana for Burabay National Park (270 km, approx. 4 hours). Burabay (also known as Borovoe) is a picturesque natural monument in northern Kazakhstan, renowned for its lakes, towering granite formations, and coniferous forests. Shortly before reaching Burabay, you’ll stop for lunch in the town of Shchuchinsk at a café with views of the lake.
After lunch, visit the Botai-Burabay Museum to learn about the region’s history and ethnography. Continue with a walk through the Ablai Khan glade, home to a distinctive granite throne. Nearby, explore a multimedia interactive complex that presents the history and culture of Kazakhstan.
The tour continues with a 30-minute walk to the lake, where the mysterious Zhumbaktas rock - also known as the “Mysterious Stone” - rises from the water. Depending on your viewing angle, it resembles a girl, an old woman, or a sphinx. Your guide will share the local legends associated with this unusual formation.
End the day with a 15-minute boat ride on Lake Burabay, offering panoramic views of Zhumbaktas and the surrounding scenery. Transfer to your hotel in Burabay. Overnight at the hotel.
Meals: breakfast, lunch
Day 3: Burabay National Park – Astana

c After breakfast, at 10:00, you will continue exploring Burabay Park. A short drive will take you to the Aq Maral deer farm, home to around 200 marals (noble deer). Here, you’ll learn how the animals are cared for and discover the practice of “pantotherapy” - the use of deer antlers in traditional medicine. You’ll also have the chance to feed the deer and purchase medicinal extracts made from their antlers.
The active part of the day begins with a 3-kilometer hike along a scenic trail through pine forest to the summit of Mount Bolektau. The trail is steep in places and the ascent takes about 45 minutes, but you’ll be rewarded with one of the best panoramic views in Burabay Park. After resting and taking photos, you’ll descend the same way and drive to a local restaurant for lunch.
Following lunch, your active experience continues with a 45-minute horseback ride through the forest near the town of Shchuchinsk. The trail is flat and comfortable, and the well-trained horses make this ride suitable even for beginners. Enjoy the peaceful ride through the quiet forest, breathing in the fresh air and escaping the bustle of city life. For your safety, an instructor will accompany you.
After this nature-filled day in Burabay Park, you will return to Astana (270 km, approx. 4 hours). Check-in at the hotel. Overnight at the hotel.
