Son-Kul is an untouched mountain lake in Naryn Province, not far from Kochkor. As the second largest lake in Kyrgyzstan, Son-Kul is broad and blue, and is surrounded by wide summer pastures (called jailoo) and rocky mountain peaks. Son-Kul is popular among adventurers who want to spend some time living like nomads in yurts, or who want to go on treks or horseback rides through the surrounding mountains. For those looking for a little quieter time, Son-Kul is a great place to breathe in the clean mountain air and try some traditional Kyrgyz kumiss.
Experience a nomadic life with extension tour to Son-Kul Lake. You will have a chance to ride a horse, see edelweiss flowers, camels, yaks, golden eagles, and to see how local women make Kyrgyz national drink – Kymyz (mare’s milk).
