One-day Discover Dmitrov Tour from Moscow

Our 1-day Discover Dimitrov tour from Moscow combines history, architecture, and nature. Spend the morning exploring the ancient Kremlin, beautiful religious buildings, and vibrant city streets of this provincial Russian town famous for its royal, trading, and military histories. In the afternoon, enjoy a scenic boat trip on the Ikshinsky and Pestovsky Reservoirs.

Tour itinerary:

Day 1: Moscow – Dmitrov – Moscow

08:45 Meet your driver and tour leader at the hotel.
09:00 Drive to Dmitrov (82 km, 1.5 hours).
10:30 Take a walking tour of the town’s historical centre. See the earthen ramparts of the Dmitrov Kremlin Museum-Reserve, a unique example of defensive architecture that was built between the 12th and 16th centuries. Admire the golden-domed Assumption Cathedral, a stunning example of 16th century Russian religious architecture with frescoes by the great icon painter, Andrei Rublev.
11:30 Discover another of Dmitrov’s ancient monuments, the active Borisoglebsk Monastery, where you’ll see the Holy Gates and other beautiful architectural features from different centuries. Visit a holy spring and the Cathedral of Boris and Gleb before taking the opportunity to enjoy delicious pies in the monastery refectory.
12:30 Take a walk along the pedestrianised Kropotkinskaya Street. See sculptural compositions and a monument to the city’s founder, Yuri Dolgoruky.
13:30 Lunch.
14:30 Transfer to Ikshinsky Reservoir (32 km, 30 min).
15:00 Take a boat trip on the Ikshinsky and Pestovsky Reservoirs. Admire the picturesque landscapes and learn about the geography, flora, and fauna of the reservoirs.
17:30 Return to Moscow (55 km, 1 hour).
18:30–19:00 Arrive at the hotel. End of the tour.

Duration of sightseeing tour: 10-11 hours

RECOMMENDATIONS: Bring comfortable footwear and clothing suitable for the weather. Please note: when visiting Orthodox churches, men must take off their hats while women must cover their heads. We therefore recommend that ladies wishing to visit churches bring along a headscarf.
