Tour itinerary:
Our guide and driver will meet you at your hotel in Samarkand to begin your journey to the Langar settlement. As you drive over a deep canyon, passing by small hills, Langar suddenly appears with its clay homes nestled under the hillside. Atop a separate hill stands the 500-year-old mausoleum of Muhammad Sodiq. The village also features a 400-year-old mosque, and it feels as though time has stood still since the construction of these historic structures.
You can enjoy lunch at a local cafe during your trip. After visiting Langar-Ota, you will travel to Shakhrisabz to see the Ak-Saray Palace. Many fascinating legends surround its construction. According to one story, Timur, envisioning a grand edifice, summoned an architect and shared his vision. The architect, granted access to the state treasury, began making foundation blocks from clay mixed with gold in full view of Timur. When Timur asked, "Why did you do that?" the architect replied, "To ascertain your determination to begin construction of a building that requires a huge spending." Today, there are majestic ruins left of this architectural marvel, but they also look quite impressive.
