A Hiking Tour to Kazbegi and Truso Valley offers two wonderful days in northern Georgia, which will be filled with the beauty of ancient monasteries and churches, colourful villages and turbulent icy rivers on the slopes of the Caucasus Range. The tour will last approximately 36 hours, but will provide you with countless memories, and the beauty of these places will remain in your heart forever.
The tour begins in Tbilisi, from where you will head to Kazbegi, stopping en route at the iconic monasteries of Jvari and Ananuri. Upon arrival in Kazbegi, you will hike up to the Gergeti Church, which offers a breathtaking view of the gorge, and on a clear day, you can see Mount Kazbek. The second day will be dedicated to the Truso Valley, located nearby. This will be a long but fairly easy hike to the mysterious ruins of Zakagori Fortress and abandoned villages. After the trek, you will return to Tbilisi.

Day 1: Tbilisi – Jvari – Ananuri – Kazbegi

At 09:00 meet your guide in the hotel lobby. Head to Jvari church, a true architectural masterpiece of the early medieval period overlooking the confluence of Aragvi and Mtkvari rivers from the top of the hill. Continue to Ananuri architectural complex, a former residence of Argveti Dukes. A complex featuring churches and towers dating back to the 16-17th centuries beautifully overlooking Jinvali reservoir. We will keep climbing on the Georgian Military Highway passing through the highest point of it at 2394 m above sea level. Arrive at Kazbegi, a small town with views of Mount Kazbek (or Mkinvari) 5054 m, the seventh highest peak in the Caucasus Mountains. Hike both ways to Gergeti Trinity church. Overnight at the hotel. Day 2: Kazbegi – Truso Valley – Tbilisi

After breakfast change your car to AWD and drive to Truso valley. It takes 6-8 hours to walk from Kvemo Okrokana village to the ruins of Zakagori fortress and back. Of course, if you drive deeper into the valley and park by first travertines, the whole walk takes only about 4 hours. Meet our driver with sedan and depart to Tbilisi. Overnight at the hotel.
