The Samarkand Wine Tasting & Cultural Heritage Tour introduces you to Samarkand's centuries-old traditions of winemaking and craftsmanship. If you’re looking for Uzbekistan tours that go beyond the country’s famous architectural landmarks, this itinerary offers an excellent opportunity to discover its rich culinary and handicraft heritage.
A central part of the programme is a visit to Bagizagan, one of Uzbekistan’s best-known wineries. The estate has around 400 hectares of its own vineyards and produces more than 20 wines and other grape-based beverages.
During this one-day tour, you will see the complete winemaking process and taste a selection of local wines and cognac. You will also visit Traditions Square, a unique cultural centre showcasing Uzbekistan’s rich handicraft and culinary heritage, where you can observe local artisans at work before taking part in a masterclass on traditional crafts or Uzbek cuisine.
Tour itinerary:
At 09:00 our guide and driver will meet you at your hotel in Samarkand. Drive to Bagizagan Winery (20 km, 40-50 minutes).
Enjoy a guided tour of the winery and learn about local winemaking traditions. The visit includes a tasting of six varieties of wine, chacha, two types of cognac, and a cheese platter served as snacks.
At 11:30 drive back to Samarkand and head to Traditions Square, a unique cultural centre showcasing Uzbekistan’s rich handicraft and culinary heritage. Observe local artisans at work and learn about traditional crafts passed down through generations.
After lunch, take one of the various masterclasses.
