Beklemishevskaya Tower

Taynitskaya Tower was followed by Beklemishevskaya. It was built by another Italian, Marco Fryazin in 1487. The severe look of this tower served its purpose. In the 15th century the tower was turned into jail. Although initially the tower served defensive functions. Beklemishevskaya tower was later called Moskvoretskaya because of the proximity to the Moskva River and Moskvoretsky Bridge.
