This 3-day Kakheti Wine Tour is a relaxed journey through Georgia’s best-known wine region, where vineyards, family cellars, historic monasteries, and traditional hospitality shape the rhythm of the trip. You will travel from Tbilisi through the Gombori Pass to Telavi, visit local qvevri makers and family wineries, taste amber and red wines, enjoy generous Kakhetian meals, and explore some of the region’s most atmospheric cultural sites. The tour combines wine, landscape, and everyday Georgian traditions in a comfortable short itinerary, ideal for travellers who want to experience Kakheti beyond a single-day visit.
Tour itinerary:
At 9:00 you will be met by our driver and guide at your hotel to start the journey to Kakheti, the cradle of Georgian wine. Beautiful road lies through Gombori pass (~2 h, 100 km).
Our first stop will be in Vardisubani village where a local family makes “qvevri”, Georgian clay vessel to ferment and store wine. We will learn how these amphoras are made and taste wine.
We will then continue to a local family wine cellar and enjoy a tasting of locally produced wines. Here the wine is produced in qvevri – a perfect chance to experience qvevri wines, amber or red. We will be hosted for a Kakheti-style lunch paired with wine.
Then we will continue to Telavi, the administrative and historic center of the region. We will see the small, charming streets of old Telavi and have a photo stop at the monument to King Irakli II. Drive to your hotel for overnight.
