We are glad to offer new Georgia wine tour that emphasizes major wine locations across the country. You will literally have a unique opportunity to learn about Georgian wine and winemaking from scratch (the vineyard and clay vessels) to the process of bottle opening. And all of this in one balanced tour in just 7-day time, with the added value of magnificent Georgian culture, traditions, history, architecture and food.

Tour itinerary:

Day 1: Tbilisi – arrival
 
Arrive in Tbilisi. Our driver will meet you at the airport and transfer to the hotel. Check-in at noon.
After short rest we will embark on sightseeing tour of Tbilisi. Start at Metekhi church and monument to Vakhtang Gorgasali, the legendary founder of Tbilisi. Take cable car to Narikala Fortress to enjoy breathtaking panoramic view of the city. Walk down to the district of sulphur bath houses passing by the only mosque in Tbilisi. Visit Chateau Mukhrani Wine Studio and try wine from Mukhrani province. Stroll through the Sharden area full of narrow streets with cozy cafés, souvenir shops, and breathe in the living past. We will finish city tour crossing the Bridge of Peace to Rike Park.
After ample time for rest we will proceed to one of the local restaurants to taste traditional Georgian cuisine (departure from your hotel at 19:00). Overnight at the hotel in Tbilisi.

Day 2: Tbilisi – Vardisubani – Telavi – Kisiskhevi – Tsinandali – Telavi
 
At 9:00 you will be met by our driver and guide at your hotel to start the journey to Kakheti, the cradle of Georgian wine. Beautiful road lies through Gombori pass (~2 h, 100 km). We will visit a family in Vardisubani village which make ‘qvevri’, Georgian clay vessel to keep wine. Continue to Telavi, the administrative and historic center of the region. We will see the small charming streets of old Telavi and have a photo stop at the monument to King Irakli II. Start sampling Kakhetian wines visiting Brothers Khutsishvili marani in Kisiskhevi. Family produced wine and lunch with traditional Georgian meals await us here. Last stop for today will be Tsinandali, the residence of prince Chavchavadze, 19th century public figure and poet. Beautiful English garden, museum, and the wine cellar will all bring us the romance of 19th century. Enjoy a complimentary glass of white wine “Tsinandali”. Drive to your hotel for overnight.

Day 3: Telavi – Kvareli – Sighnaghi – Tbilisi
 
Continue exploring Kakheti and Alazani valley. Check-out from the hotel and drive towards a unique wine cellar “Khareba” located in the tunnel carved out of the rock. Originally built for military purposes, today the tunnel is used to store Khareba’s finest wines. Wine tour and wine tasting. Next stop at Sighnaghi, the city of love and the Royal Town, one of the crossroads of the Great Silk Road surrounded by defensive walls with 23 towers. We will have lunch and wine tasting at a local family winery restaurant. Return to Tbilisi for overnight.

Day 4: Tbilisi – Jvari – Kaspi– Ambrolauri
 
After breakfast, depart Tbilisi and drive to Jvari Church, a true architectural masterpiece of the Early Middle Ages, which is picturesquely perched above the confluence of the Aragvi and Mtkvari Rivers. Drive to Kaspi and visit Merebashvili’s Marani Wine Cellar. Find out more about the pure Kartlian technologies of wine making and enjoy the hospitality of traditional Georgian family. Wine tour, wine tasting and lunch. After lunch, drive towards Racha, real hidden gem of Georgia. The road passes through Sachkhere and Shkmeri village. Arrive in Ambrolauri, administrative center of Racha region. Have a dinner and overnight at the hotel.

Day 5: Ambrolauri
 
We will start a bit later today and have a more relaxed pace. Our tour will continue visiting a local winery which produces wines unique to this region – Khvanchkara (PDO), Aleksandrouli, and Tvishi (PDO). Next visit is to family winery “Sad Meli” set on the slope of a stiff mountain. Magnificent views of wine yards on the background of Rioni gorge will probably evoke you to try yourself at winemaking here. What we surely will not miss is a chance to try more Racha wines and local food for lunch. Traditional architecture of wine cellar creates cozy atmosphere for tasting family wine produced in qvevri.
The rest of the day is free. Dinner will be served at your hotel. Overnight in Ambrolauri.

Day 6: Ambrolauri – Shaori Lake – Igoeti – Tbilisi
 
After breakfast we will depart Ambrolauri and drive back towards Tbilisi. The road passes through the mysterious Nakerala Pass. We will have a photo stop at beautiful Shaori lake surrounded with mountains. Shaori lake is a favorite destination of fishermen. Continue to Igoeti village in the heart of Kartli. The road passes through several Georgian villages. Visit the Ori Marani Wines, a bright startup of a professional French wine maker. Wines of Ori Marani are product of the unique mix of Georgian and French wine making technologies. Reach Tbilisi in the evening. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 7: Tbilisi – departure
 
Check out from the hotel till noon. Free time till transfer to Tbilisi international airport. End of the tour.
