An amazing 6-day Georgia wine tour is an unforgettable journey, where along with the visits to the glorious capital Tbilisi you will have a week of trip to Georgian cities and villages. Each settlement is famous for its old-time landmarks, unforgettable landscapes and original local traditions. But the main zest of the tour is legendary Georgian wines and cheeses tasting. 

Tour itinerary:

Day 1: Tbilisi – arrival, city tour
 
Arrive in Tbilisi. You will be met by the driver and transferred to the hotel. Check-in at noon. You will start your journey in Georgia with a Tbilisi city tour at Metekhi church and the monument of Vakhtang Gorgasali, the legendary founder of Tbilisi. Take a cable car to Narikala Fortress to enjoy a breathtaking panoramic city view. Walk down to the district of Sulphur bath houses passing by the only mosque in Tbilisi. Stroll through the Sharden area full of narrow streets with cozy cafés, wine-tasting bars, and souvenir shops, and breathe in the living past. Visit Sioni Cathedral, Anchiskhati Basilica, and the clock tower of the famous Rezo Gabriadze Theatre. After head to the Freedom square in the center of which stands the statue of St. George. Next, visit the wine bar ღVino Underground, where you will have a chance to taste natural, organic, and bio wines from all around Georgia. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 2: Tbilisi – Telavi – Cheese Factory – Tsinandali – Napareuli
 
After breakfast, we will depart towards the Kakheti region of Georgia, the cradle of Georgian wine. A beautiful road lies through the Gombori Pass. Drive to Telavi, the administrative and historic center of the region. Have a short walk through the charming streets of old Telavi and have a photo stop at the monument to King Erekle II. Our next stop beckons at a family boutique cheese factory and cellar. We will indulge into the world of Georgian cheeses and taste five types of unique local cheeses. Continue to Tsinandali, the residence of the dukes of Georgia with a beautiful English garden, a museum, and the wine cellar which belonged to Prince Chavchavadze, a 19th-century public figure and poet. Our next stop will be at the private winery Twins Wine Cellar in Napareuli village. The premises of the winery include a vast vineyard, a museum of traditional Georgian winemaking in qvevri, and facilities for various workshops. Here you will have an opportunity to try yourself in baking khachapuri (cheese-filled bread) and churchkhela (nuts beaded on a thread and cooked in flour-thickened grape juice). An excellent round-up of the visit will be tasting five different wines produced at Twins Winery. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 3: Nekresi monastery – Khareba Winery – Sighnaghi – Tbilisi
 
In the morning, drive to Nekresi Monastery. This complex was founded in the 6th century and since then has been the religious center of the region. Continue to the unique Winery Khareba, located in a tunnel carved out of the rock. Originally built for military purposes, today the tunnel is used to store Khareba’s finest wines. Enjoy the wine tour and wine tasting. Drive to Sighnaghi, the city of love and a royal town, one of the crossroads of the Great Silk Road, surrounded by defensive walls with 23 towers. In the afternoon we will drive to Tbilisi for overnight at the hotel.

Day 4: Tbilisi – Jvari – Chateau Mukhrani – Family Winery – Akhaltsikhe
 
After breakfast, depart Tbilisi and drive to Jvari Monastery, a true architectural masterpiece of the early Medieval Period, built on a hilltop. Enjoy views of the confluence of the Aragvi and Mtkvari rivers. Our next stop will be at historical Chateau Mukhrani in the Mukhrani region. The castle with its unique vineyards was an estate of the royal family of Georgia. The history of winemaking there relates to royal family member Ivane Mukhranbatoni who brought Chateau concepts to Georgia. Have a wine tour and enjoy the wine tasting.
For lunch, we will visit a family winery. Here we will find out more about the Kartli technique of winemaking and enjoy the hospitality of a traditional Georgian family. Wine tasting and lunch will be served. After lunch, drive to Akhaltsikhe. Time permitting, en route stop at Borjomi. Take a walk in Central Park famous worldwide for its mineral water reserves and have a taste of true Borjomi water straight from the spring. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 5: Akhaltsikhe – Chobareti – Poka – Tbilisi
 
In the morning, we will have a guided tour inside the Rabati fortress, an old stone fortress standing on the small hill on the very shores of the Potskhovi River. Our next stop is the Meskhetian traditional house Oda in Chobareti where you can taste a variety of local Meskhetian dishes for lunch.
After lunch, we will head to Javakheti region. You will be fascinated with the versatility of nature in Georgia while driving by vast open spaces of the region and lakes of Tsalka and Paravani, the biggest lake in the country. Arrive at Poka nunnery or St. Nino Monastery dated XI century. Here you will have a chance to taste different kinds of unique Georgian cheeses: white and red Abuli, Javakhetian blue, Albio in pot, and others prepared by old Georgian traditions of cheese-making and many more local products such as jams, oil, chocolate, honey. After cheese tasting, we will continue our way to Tbilisi. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 6: Tbilisi – departure
 
Check-out from the hotel at noon. Free time until transfer to Tbilisi International Airport. Departure.
