Our 14-day Georgia’s Natural Wonders Tour tour is one of our most comprehensive Georgia tours, introducing you to the country's most impressive natural and cultural landmarks, from the snow-capped peaks of the Greater Caucasus to the Black Sea coast. Along the way, you will discover historic towns and monasteries, visit Georgia's largest cities, and stay in comfortable hotels throughout the journey.
During the tour, you will explore the ancient cave town of Uplistsikhe, walk the scenic trails of Okatse Canyon, visit the famous Prometheus Cave with its vast underground chambers, and enjoy views of the glaciers below Mount Shkhara, Georgia's highest peak.
Alongside Georgia's natural wonders, the itinerary includes guided sightseeing in Tbilisi, Kutaisi and Batumi, a visit to the Racha wine region with its family-run wineries, and the extraordinary cave monastery of Vardzia, carved directly into the rock face. Another highlight is Ushguli, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of Europe's highest permanently inhabited settlements, where medieval defensive towers still stand as enduring symbols of Svaneti.

Tour itinerary:

Day 1: Tbilisi – arrival
 
Arrival in Tbilisi. You will be met by our driver and transferred to the hotel. Check-in after 14:00. Free day in Tbilisi. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 2: Tbilisi city tour
 
In the morning, have a sightseeing tour of Tbilisi. Start at Metekhi church and monument to Vakhtang Gorgasali, the legendary founder of Tbilisi. Visit Narikala Fortress to enjoy breathtaking panoramic view of the city. Walk down to the district of sulphur bath houses and pass by the only mosque in Tbilisi. Stroll through the Shardeni area, full of narrow streets with cozy cafés, wine tasting bars, souvenir shops, and breathe in the living past. We will also see Sioni Cathedral, Anchiskhati Basilica, the clock tower of famous Rezo Gabriadze Theatre, and the Bridge of Peace, which leads to Rike Park. After a couple of hours at your leisure, visit local restaurant to taste traditional Georgian cuisine. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 3: Tbilisi – Uplistsikhe – Kutaisi city tour – family winery – Kutaisi
 
After breakfast, drive to Uplistsikhe Cave Town, which dates to the Hellenistic Period and is notable for its unique combination of carving styles and the co-existence of pagan and Christian architecture. Next drive to Kutaisi, the second largest city of Georgia, which according to the legend was the ultimate destination of the Jason and Argonauts searching for the Golden Fleece. Start a sightseeing tour in Kutaisi, which according to the legend was the ultimate destination of the Jason and Argonauts searching for the Golden Fleece. Walk through the old and new streets of Kutaisi center stopping by shady Kutaisi Park with numerous sculptures, Colchis Fountain, Drama Theater, and historical Green Bazaar. For dinner, we will visit a family-owned winery where centuries-old winemaking traditions are preserved in a qvevri wine cellar. The winemaker will give us a tour and host us for a dinner with wine. Head to your hotel for overnight.

Day 4: Kutaisi – Okatse Canyon – Okatse Waterfall – Prometheus Cave – Kutaisi
 
After breakfast, drive to Okatse Canyon, a natural monument of Georgia with scenic views. Hike in the forest for a couple of kilometers before stepping on the bridge over the gorge of Satsikvilo river (also possible to reach by car). From the bridge, you will see the fantastic scenery of the canyon before reaching the panorama platform with views of unbelievable beauty. We will then head back to our car and drive to one of the tallest waterfalls of Georgia. 70-meter tall Kinchkha waterfall drops its water into the gorge, creating a magical water performance.
Then we will visit the Prometheus Cave where an exciting walk in 1.5 km long tunnel awaits us to enjoy breathtaking views of stalactites, stalagmites, petrified waterfalls, underground rivers, and lakes along the cave. Drive back to Kutaisi for overnight.

Day 5: Kutaisi – Tskhra Jvari – Shaori – Ambrolauri
 
In the morning, the tour continues to the Racha region. We will head to the north passing over the beautiful Nakerala Pass and hike to Tskhra Jvari (‘nine crosses’) for about 40 minutes one-way to enjoy majestic views to the mountains and lakes around. Our next stop will be at Shaori Lake, which crystal-clear water and beautiful forest around will make you feel part of untouched nature. A definite stop for Instagram lovers! We will then visit a local family winery to have a delicious homemade lunch and enjoy a wine tasting of local wines: Khvanchkara, Tvishi, and others. Overnight at the hotel in Ambrolauri.

Day 6: Ambrolauri – Sairme Pillars – Ushguli
 
Today, we will continue exploring the region of Racha which is a lesser-known gem of Georgia. In the morning, we will drive to Saime Pillars, another wonder of Georgian nature. Over thousands of years, natural processes resulted in the formation of pillars. The route of our 3-km mostly uphill hike is well-marked and will guide us to the pillars. We will hike to the top to enjoy the breathtaking views of the pillars and then make our way back to our car (moderate hike for 2-3 hours). Depart Ambrolauri and drive to Ushguli village, the highest standing settlement in Europe (2200 m). The Ushguli architectural complex is a valuable architectural and historical monument, included in the UNESCO World Heritage List for its exclusiveness. On arrival, spend time in Ushguli strolling the old narrow streets. Visit Lamaria Church complex with impressive wall frescos (12th century) and enjoy the picturesque view of the Mount Shkhara. Overnight at the guesthouse where a delicious dinner will be served.

Day 7: Ushguli – Shkhara Glacier – Mestia
 
In the morning, you will have an opportunity to visit the Shkhara Glacier on an easy round-trip hike. Shkhara is the highest peak in Georgia – 5193 m. Upon your request, the hiking distance can vary from 4 to 22 km. Additionally, we can ride horses to the glacier. After hiking, we will drive to Mestia. In Mestia, visit Svan original house ‘machubi’ and tower ‘koshki’. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 8: Mestia – Heshkili Swings – Chalaadi Glacier – Mestia
 
Mestia is the center of the mysterious Svaneti region. This region is the birthplace to a special ethnic group of people – heroic and courageous Svans – distinguished by their culture, traditions, and customs from the rest of Georgia. Svaneti is also famous for its original architecture and is called ‘the Country of Thousand Towers’, which had played both economic and defensive functions.
Mestia still has dozens of such medieval stone houses with watchtowers and inhabited towers that were used to protect valleys and churches from the 10-14th centuries. In the morning, we will visit the Mestia Ethnographic Museum. The museum was established in 1936 and has one of the richest collections of artifacts in the region. Depending on the season, take a ride on the cable car to one of the ski resorts to enjoy the panorama of the mountains. Continue to Heshkili Swings to enjoy beautiful mountain views. During the tour in Mestia, take an easy 2-3-hour hike to Chalaadi Glacier. Drive back to Mestia for an overnight at the hotel.

Day 9: Mestia – Mazeri Waterfalls – Mestia
 
In the morning, have a half-day hike to Mazeri Waterfalls from Becho village. The trail winds through a calm, shady forest and open alpine meadows, gradually revealing beautiful views of the surrounding Caucasus peaks. Along the way, the sound of rushing water grows stronger until you reach the picturesque Mazeri Waterfalls, cascading down from the slopes of Mount Ushba. The duration of the hike is approximately 4-5 hours. After the hike, get back to the car and drive to Mestia for the overnight.

Day 10: Mestia – Enguri Dam – Batumi
 
In the morning, depart Svaneti and drive to Enguri Dam famous for its sheer dimension and immense capacity. One of Georgia's most distinguished cultural heritage sights, Enguri Dam, is the world's second-highest concrete arch dam. Drive to Batumi. Overnight in the hotel.

Day 11: Batumi city tour
 
In the morning, drive to Batumi Botanical Garden, located on Green Cape with amazing views of the Black Sea. Established in 1880, it is the biggest and the oldest botanical garden in the South Caucasus, which hosts an incredible collection of more than two thousand tree species. Enjoy a walking tour around the old part of Batumi, visit Europe square, Piazza, Alphabetic tower, and the “Ali and Nino” statue, and take a ride on the longest ropeway in Georgia (about 6 min). Overnight at the hotel.

Day 12: Batumi – Goderdzi – Green Lake – Vardzia
 
Today, we will depart Batumi and head to Vardzia. On the way, we will drive through Goderdzi Pass. The road over Goderdzi Pass winds through pristine alpine landscapes, dense forests, and traditional mountain villages of southwestern Georgia. Hike to Green Lake, known in Georgian as Mtsvane Tba, is yet another hidden gem nestled high in the mountains. After the hike, head to Vardzia for overnight.

Day 13: Vardzia – Khertvisi – Paravani and Tsalka Lakes – Tbilisi
 
After breakfast, explore Vardzia, which was erected in the 12-13th centuries during the rule of George III and his daughter Queen Tamara to protect southern boundaries of Georgia. Vardzia is not just a set of random rooms cut in rocks. It is a multi-storied complex with streets, tunnels and stairs leading to monasteries, temples, fortresses, baths, libraries, dwelling houses and so forth. Head to Tbilisi. En route, short stop at Khertvisi Fortress (10-11th centuries). You will be fascinated with the versatility of nature in Georgia while driving by vast open spaces of the region and lakes of Tsalka and Paravani, the biggest lake in the country. Continue to Tbilisi for overnight.

Day 14: Tbilisi – departure
