An excellent week of winter holidays in the Caucasus, offering you a mountain of magical experiences. The 7-Day Azerbaijan-Georgia Winter Group Tour begins with an excursion in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan, followed by trips to remarkable natural and historical sites. After a short flight, you will find yourself in Tbilisi, the capital of Georgia, from where you will embark on several trips to picturesque places with unique names like Ananuri, Kakheti, Bodbe, Sighnaghi, and more. You will celebrate Christmas and have the opportunity to ski at the Gudauri ski resort. This tour is a wonderful New Year’s gift that you can give to yourself and your loved ones.

Tour itinerary:

Day 1 – 21 December, Sa: Baku – arrival
 
Arrival in Baku. Private transfer will be arranged to your hotel. Check-in at 14:00. Free time.
Overnight at the hotel.
Driving distance: 30 km
Day 2 – 22 December, Su: Baku
 
At 09:00, start sightseeing tour in Baku. Visit Martyrs’ Lane, called ‘Shehidler Khiyabany’ among locals. When you walk through Martyrs’ Lane, you will find a beautiful view overlooking Baku’s coastline. Continue touring new Baku and exploring architecture of 19-20th centuries: Nizami Street, Fountain Square, Nizami Ganjavi monument. Pay a visit to Azerbaijan History National Museum and move to Icheri Sheher, the old part of the city. Visit Maiden Tower, Shirvanshahs’ Palace, Caravanserai, and market square with numerous art studios and souvenir stalls.
In the evening, meet your guide and the group members at the hotel lobby. Enjoy welcome dinner at a national restaurant.

Day 3 – 23 December, Mo: Baku – Gobustan – Absheron Peninsula – Tbilisi
 
Check-out from the hotel. Meet your guide at 09:00. Today you will visit the area of the Greater Baku and Absheron Peninsula. Start with Gobustan National Park. Pay a visit to the Petroglyphs Museum and explore petroglyphs dating back to 10,000 BC. Later drive to Ateshgah – temple of fire worshippers located in Surakhany village. Zoroastrians from India travelled thousands of kilometers to Ateshgah to worship fire coming out of the earth. Drive to Yanardag Mountain with natural gas burning for several thousands of years. Transfer to the airport for morning flight to Tbilisi. On arrival, transfer to the hotel for overnight.

Day 4 – 24 December, Tu: Tbilisi – Bodbe – Sighnaghi – Tbilisi
 
After breakfast depart towards the Kakheti region of Georgia, the cradle of Georgian winemaking.
Our first stop will be in Bodbe Convent, which according to the legend is a burial place of St. Nino, who converted Georgia to Christianity in the 4th century. According to Tsar Alexader III of Russia decree, since 1889 Bodbe complex functions as a nunnery. Continue Sighnaghi, the city of love and the Royal Town, one of the crossroads of the Great Silk Road surrounded by defensive walls with 23 towers.
For lunch, we will be hosted at a family winery for the delicious homemade treat. We will also learn about the way Georgians have been producing wine in clay shaped vessels called Qvevri and taste local wine. Return to Tbilisi for overnight.

Day 5 – 25 December, We: Tbilisi – Jvari – Gudauri – Ananuri – Tbilisi
 
After breakfast meet your guide and drive to Jvari Monastery, a true architectural masterpiece of the Early Middle Ages overlooking the confluence of Aragvi and Mtkvari rivers from the top of the hill. Reach Gudauri, the mountain ski resort (120 km). Gudauri is located on southern slopes of the Caucasus Mountains on the plateau at the height of 2000 meters above the sea level.
Spend an entire day at Gudauri ski resort. Enjoy skiing. Take a ride on the cable car to enjoy the views of the skiing slopes of snowy mountains. There is an option to rent sleds or get the first skiing lesson from the professional instructor. Depart Gudauri and head to Tbilisi. En-route make a short stop at Ananuri complex, a former residence of Argveti Dukes. Complex featuring churches and towers dating back to the 16-17th centuries is beautifully overlooking Jinvali reservoir. Return to Tbilisi.

Day 6 – 26 December, Th: Tbilisi
 
In the morning, have sightseeing tour in Tbilisi. Start at Metekhi Church and monument to Vakhtang Gorgasali, the legendary founder of Tbilisi. Take a cable car to Narikala Fortress to enjoy breathtaking panoramic view of the city. Walk down to the district of sulphur bath house passing by the only mosque in Tbilisi. Stroll through the Sharden area full of narrow streets with cozy cafés, wine tasting bars, souvenir shops, and breathe in the living past. Visit Sioni Cathedral, Anchiskhati Basilica, the clock tower of famous Rezo Gabriadze Theatre, and Bridge of Peace leading to the Rike Park.
Free evening in Tbilisi. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 7 – 27 December, Fr: Tbilisi – departure
 
Check-out from the hotel till noon. Free time till transfer to Tbilisi International Airport. End of Azerbaijan and Georgia Winter Group Tour.
