The 12-day Ultimate Georgia Tour is a comprehensive journey that covers Georgia's key regions and most iconic attractions. Among Georgia tours, this itinerary is one of the best choices for travellers who want to experience as much of the country as possible on a single trip – from the wineries of Kakheti in the east to the Black Sea coast in the west.
The tour includes ancient monasteries, scenic mountain landscapes, canyons and caves, as well as the distinctive architecture of Georgia's major cities. You will taste traditional Georgian cuisine, stroll through the charming streets of Sighnaghi, take a boat ride through Martvili Canyon and take in spectacular views of Mount Kazbek. In Svaneti, known as the Country of a Thousand Towers, you will visit Ushguli, one of the highest continuously inhabited settlements in Europe.
Other highlights include the Joseph Stalin Museum in Gori, one of Georgia's most unusual museums, and Batumi Botanical Garden, located on the picturesque Black Sea coast and home to more than 2,000 plant species from around the world.
Although the itinerary of the 12-day Ultimate Georgia Tour is packed with activities, it does not include long hikes in natural areas. Instead, the tour focuses on guided sightseeing and visits to Georgia's historic landmarks and natural wonders.

Tour itinerary:

Day 1: Tbilisi – arrival
 
Arrival in Tbilisi. You will be met by our driver and transferred to the hotel. Check-in after 14:00. Free day in Tbilisi. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 2: Tbilisi city tour – Mtskheta – Jvari – Tbilisi
 
In the morning, have a sightseeing tour of Tbilisi. Start at Metekhi church and monument to Vakhtang Gorgasali, the legendary founder of Tbilisi. Visit Narikala Fortress to enjoy breathtaking panoramic view of the city. Walk down to the district of sulphur bath houses and pass by the only mosque in Tbilisi. Stroll through the Shardeni area, full of narrow streets with cozy cafés, wine tasting bars, souvenir shops, and breathe in the living past. We will also see Sioni Cathedral, Anchiskhati Basilica, the clock tower of famous Rezo Gabriadze Theatre, and the Bridge of Peace, which leads to Rike Park. After lunch, drive to Mtskheta, one of the oldest towns and the cultural and religious centre of Georgia. Mtskheta was the capital of the Eastern Georgian Kingdom of Iberia from the third century BC. Visit Jvari Monastery, a true architectural masterpiece of the early Medieval Period overlooking the confluence of Aragvi and Mtkvari rivers from the top of the hill, and Svetitskhoveli, the main cathedral of Mtskheta and a sacred place where the robe of Christ is being kept. Drive back to Tbilisi. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 3: Tbilisi – Sighnaghi – Bodbe – Tsinandali – Telavi
 
After breakfast, start exploring Georgia by visiting the Eastern part of Georgia, which is famous for its viticulture and winemaking traditions. We will head to Sighnaghi, the city of love and the Royal Town, one of the crossroads of the Silk Road surrounded by defensive walls with 23 towers from which a panoramic view to the Alazani Valley and the Greater Caucasus Mountains will unfold in front of you. Make a stop at Bodbe convent, which according to the legend is a burial place of St. Nino, who converted Georgia to Christianity in the 4th century. According to Tsar Alexander III of Russia decree, since 1889 Bodbe complex functions as a nunnery. Continue to Tsinandali, the residence of dukes of Georgia with a beautiful English garden, a museum and a wine cellar that belonged to prince Chavchavadze, a 19th-century public figure and poet. Overnight in Telavi.

Day 4: Telavi – Ananuri – Kazbegi
 
In the morning, we will continue our tour by having a short walk through the charming streets of old Telavi and stop for a photo at the monument to Erekli II and the giant 800-years old plane tree. Then, we will embark on a long journey towards the Mount Kazbek. Our route will take over the Georgian Military Highway up North towards the border with Russia. En route, make a stop at the Ananuri architectural complex, a former residence of Argveti Dukes. The complex featuring churches and towers dating back to the 16-17th centuries is beautifully overlooking Jinvali reservoir.
Later, you will see the conjunction of two small mountain rivers famous for the fact that being different in color they keep their colors even after merge. We will then drive over the Cross Pass and make a short stop at the Soviet-era ‘People’s Friendship’ mountain viewpoint overlooking a deep gorge. We will keep climbing on the Georgian Military Highway passing through the highest point of it at 2394 m above sea level. Arrive at Kazbegi, a small town with views of Mount Kazbek (or Mkinvari) 5033 m, the seventh highest peak in the Caucasus Mountains. In Kazbegi, visit Gergeti Holy Trinity Church located at an altitude of 2170 and enjoy breathtaking views to Mt Kazbegi. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 5: Kazbegi – Uplistsikhe – Gori – Kutaisi
 
After breakfast, drive to Uplistsikhe Cave Town, which dates to the Hellenistic Period and is notable for its unique combination of carving styles and the co-existence of pagan and Christian architecture. Drive to Gori and visit Stalin Museum. The museum includes more than 60,000 artifacts, the tiny house where Stalin was born, and impressive bulletproof train Stalin used to travel to Yalta and Potsdam. Next, drive to Kutaisi, the second largest city of Georgia, which according to the legend was the ultimate destination of the Jason and Argonauts searching for the Golden Fleece. Head to your hotel for overnight.

Day 6: Kutaisi city tour – Prometheus Cave – Kutaisi
 
Start a sightseeing tour in Kutaisi, which according to the legend was the ultimate destination of the Jason and Argonauts searching for the Golden Fleece. Walk through the old and new streets of Kutaisi center stopping by shady Kutaisi Park with numerous sculptures, Colchis Fountain, Drama Theater, and historical Green Bazaar. Then we will visit the Prometheus Cave where an exciting walk in 1.5 km long tunnel awaits us to enjoy breathtaking views of stalactites, stalagmites, petrified waterfalls, underground rivers, and lakes along the cave. Drive back to Kutaisi for free time and overnight.

Day 7: Kutaisi – Martvili Canyon – Mestia
 
After breakfast, we will head to Martvili Canyon. As we near our destination, we will pass local villages with charming yards which are unique to Georgia’s Samegrelo Region. Upon arrival, we will take a short boat ride through Martvili Canyon to one of nature's most marvelous creations, a steep and beautiful waterfall. Afterward we will enter the gorge from the other side on foot to admire the canyon waters from special viewing platforms and bridges, watching the water change color at every turn. This is the perfect place for selfies! Our way will continue through the Enguri Gorge to the mysterious Svaneti region. Svaneti is the home of a unique ethnic group – the heroic and courageous Svans – who are distinguished from other Georgians by their culture, traditions, and customs. The region is also famous for its original architecture and is called “the Country of a Thousand Towers”. These towers historically played both economic and defensive functions. Mestia still has dozens of medieval stone houses with the watchtowers and inhabited towers that were used to protect valleys and churches between the 10th and 14th centuries. Visit an original Svan house (“machubi”) and tower (“koshki”). Overnight at the hotel.

Day 8: Mestia – Ushguli – Heshkili – Mestia
 
After the hotel breakfast, drive to Ushguli village, the highest standing settlement in Europe (2200 m). The Ushguli architectural complex is a valuable architectural and historical monument, included in the UNESCO World Heritage List for its exclusiveness. There are about 70 families (around 200 people) living in Ushguli. Spend time in Ushguli strolling through the old narrow streets. Visit Lamaria Church complex, with impressive 12th century wall frescoes. Locals believe that Queen Tamar was buried under this church. Enjoy picturesque view of the Mount Shkhara. Return to Mestia and stop en route at Heshkili Swings to enjoy beautiful mountain views. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 9: Mestia – Enguri Dam – Batumi
 
In the morning, depart Svaneti and drive to Enguri Dam famous for its sheer dimension and immense capacity. One of Georgia's most distinguished cultural heritage sights, Enguri Dam, is the world's second-highest concrete arch dam. Drive to Batumi. Batumi is the pearl of Georgia on the Black Sea coast and the largest resort city in the country. It is the best place for a summer beach vacation in Georgia, with a long promenade full of entertainment, an old quarter with bars, restaurants, and souvenir stores, and many beautiful locations. Overnight in the hotel.

Day 10: Batumi city tour
 
In the morning, drive to Batumi Botanical Garden, located on Green Cape with amazing views of the Black Sea. Established in 1880, it is the biggest and the oldest botanical garden in the South Caucasus, which hosts an incredible collection of more than two thousand tree species. Enjoy a walking tour around the old part of Batumi, visit Europe square, Piazza, Alphabetic tower, and the “Ali and Nino” statue, and take a ride on the longest ropeway in Georgia (about 6 min). Overnight at the hotel.

Day 11: Batumi – free time, train to Tbilisi
 
You can check out of your hotel at any time before noon, and then spend the day at leisure in Batumi. In the afternoon, take an evening train to Tbilisi. Transfer to the hotel for overnight.

Day 12: Tbilisi – departure
 
Check-out from the hotel till noon. Free time till transfer to Tbilisi International airport. End of the Ultimate Georgia Tour.
